411 Richmond Street East is a 70,000 square foot office building and remains a landmark on Richmond Street East, where it serves as a development milestone for the neighbourhood. 411 Richmond Street East was the first of a series of foundational investments for Colonia Treuhand east of Yonge Street and south of Queen Street East. Built in 1895 by Peter Gendron, the building was a factory used to produce bicycles, doll carriages, and other children's toys. Built of heavy timber with load-bearing brick walls, its memorable structure and architecture made it the face of a historic designation. The building has been completely refurbished, boasting high ceiling loft-style office space and classic appeal, as a memorial to the turn-of-the-century factories that used to call downtown Toronto home. As nearby sites have become home to condominiums, 411 Richmond Street East stands strong as a landmark in Toronto's east end.
