505 Eglinton Avenue West, Toronto

505 Eglinton Avenue West is a 20,000 square foot office building, located within walking distance of both the Chaplin and Avenue Eglinton LRT stations. In 2022, the building’s entire HVAC system was converted from a gas-fired water source heat pump system, to an all electric VRF system. The conversion eliminated the building’s gas usage, and dramatically reduced its carbon footprint. In addition to providing superior tenant comfort by allowing different zones to be heated and cooled simultaneously, the conversion to a VRF system has dramatically increased efficiency and reduced maintenance costs by two thirds, while keeping electricity usage constant. 505 Eglinton Avenue West provides a blueprint for an economical transition to a lower carbon future.
